James Shelton the Miller at doorway of a stone building. He has a low-crown straw hat in his left hand; he is wearing a checked shirt, plain vest, and checked apron. Eight-panel transom window above door. Door is open, and in background appears to be another such door with window lights above. Platform of steps is about one foot below door sill. Wooden hand rail on right side. Inscription: "Letcher Mathews Southerland, James Shelton the Miller, Letcher M. Southerland (in ink, on tape), "J.L.S." imprinted on front left corner of board." |
