Description |
Grist Mill. Front of Mill. Two Shaker women standing in front, one woman sitting under roof. One man standing on overhang and two men under roof. Overhang to unload wagons. Some windows out. Buggy to left. The woman in worldly dress and Shaker bonnet is Mary Rochester. The man at left with suit is Montgomery Rochester Sr. The man in light coat and straw hat is quite possibly Henry N. Daily, who usually drove the Rochesters in the omnibus (seen far left) to catch the train at High Bridge. Inscription: "For Eldress Betsey." "No. _________, M.H. Rochester, Albany N.Y." Probably refers to Betsy Spaulding. |
